The Graduate College solicits nominations for the Outstanding Graduate Student Award each semester. This award is intended for a student graduating in each semester and expects to participate in the graduation ceremony. This student will be recognized and provided a medallion during the graduation ceremony and will be recognized with the awardee during the Honors Assembly.
The award description and criteria are:
1) A 3.5 cumulative graduate GPA, or higher.
2) demonstrated excellence in scholarship in pursuit of an advanced degree as defined by our Boyer Model (Scholarship of Discovery, Scholarship of Application, Scholarship of Integration, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning);
3) demonstrated leadership and/or service to the department, college, university, and/or profession (discipline); and,
4) demonstrated a positive impact on their fellow students, their college, Northeastern State University, profession (discipline), and/or community.
NOMINATION PROCEDURE:
1. The program committee will identify eligible students and invite them to apply for the award.
2. The students answer questions #2 (scholarship), #3 (leadership), and #4 (positive impact) to the program chair within a limited time (one week).
3. The nominee will be selected by the program committee and notified by the program chair.
*Finally, the Outstanding Graduate Student will be selected by faculty serving on the Graduate Council Graduate Student Scholarship sub-committee.
